Zakaria Lado, the Minister of General Education and Instruction for Central Equatoria State, has announced the results of the South Sudan Primary Certificate Examination 2023-2024.
Addressing media at the state education ministry offices in Juba, Lado stated that the total results of the 2023-2024 South Sudan Primary Certificate Examination had increased by 0.5%, with the new pass rate standing at 94.2 percent, compared to 93.7 percent in 2022.
“The performances in the different schools in Central Equatoria State are improving compared to the previous years,” Lado said in a statement.
“Social Studies, Sciences, Christian Religion and English Language dominated the best subjects in the CPE Examinations, while Mathematics and Islamic Religion were the better-performed subjects,” he went on to say.
Nonetheless, the female candidates performed poorly.
However, female candidates performed worse than male students in the South Sudan Primary Certificate Examination.
“Male candidates performed better than female candidates with 94.6 per cent of males having passed the examinations compared to 93.7 per cent of female candidates,” he went on to say.
The number of candidates registered in 2023 grew by 1,240 compared to 2022.
“This year, the number that sat for the South Sudan Primary Certificate Examinations in the state was 18,996 and out of them, 17,896 passed representing the pass percentage of 94.2 per cent,” Lado said in a press release.
